Equally influenced by soul/r'n'b/funk as by early punk/post punk and the stranger side of dance music, Edmonton-born R. Hanchard distills these sensibilities into his own stark, stripped-back style, which he performs and records using rudimentary synths, drum machines and found objects. Having previously recorded with Pants & Tie, Young Truck, and Small Ideas, this is his first tape for Unfulfillment as Classics Of Form, a collection of raw minimal synth tracks that pulse and shudder with motorized tension, the primacy of industrial material and basic propulsion.
